ARALDITE® GY 289

ARALDITE® GY 289 is a low-viscosity epoxy phenol novolac resin recommended for solvent-free and high-solids coatings. With an average functionality greater than two, it is a multifunctional epoxy resin that provides high crosslink density when properly cured with a variety of hardeners. As a result, coatings based on ARALDITE® GY 289 exhibit excellent chemical and thermal resistance, surpassing those of conventional epoxy resins. Compared to the well-known epoxy phenol novolac resin Araldite® EPN 1179, ARALDITE® GY 289 offers much lower viscosity, making it easier to handle and enabling formulations of solvent-free performance epoxy novolac coatings. It is also compatible in all proportions with liquid bisphenol A and bisphenol F epoxy resins, expanding possibilities for formulating solventless and high-solids coatings.
