NYCHEM® 1562 X 170

NYCHEM® 1562 X 170 is a specialty emulsion that includes nitrile, carboxylated nitrile, and styrene-butadiene blends. It provides superior oil, grease, and solvent resistance, toughness, and tear resistance. Tailored for various applications, these products can be enhanced with cross-linking agents or vulcanization to improve toughness, abrasion, and chemical resistance. Fatty acid or rosin acid-based surfactants improve water resistance, while synthetic surfactants offer better mechanical stability. Non-carboxylated versions offer excellent caustic resistance.

Applications
Product Applications
  • These products are tailored to various applications based on monomer and surfactant ratios and the use of cross-linking agents.
  • They vary in acrylonitrile content from low to high, with increases in oil, grease and solvent resistance and glass transition temperature, respectively. To further enhance toughness, abrasion and chemical resistance, the products can be vulcanized or external cross-linking agents such as melamines, epoxies, phenolics, or metal complexes can be added.
  • Product families enhanced with fatty acid or rosin acid-based surfactants exhibit superior water resistance while those with synthetic surfactants exhibit superior mechanical stability.
  • Non-carboxylated products produce the best caustic resistance.

Storage & Handling

Storage Condition
  • NYCHEM® 1562X170 is aqueous dispersions of colloidal polymer particles. They are subject to freezing and to gelation. Frozen latex cannot be salvaged. Gelation may occur at temperatures below 60°F. Gelled latex should be placed in a heated room and warmed gradually. Gentle stirring after heating helps break the gel.
  • NYCHEM® 1562X170 should be stored in a dry place, in the sealed original containers, at temperatures between 16°C and 32°C (61°F and 90°F).
Shelf Life Information
  • Under these storage conditions the shelf life is 6 months from date of shipment. The product should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
