NYCHEM® 1572

NYCHEM® 1572 is a carboxylated, heat-reactive, medium-nitrile acrylonitrile-butadiene latex with excellent chemical and mechanical stability. It is suitable for binder, coating, adhesive, and textile applications. Offering good chemical, grease, and oil resistance, it also provides flexibility, tear, and abrasion resistance. The carboxylated and heat-reactive functionalities allow crosslinking and self-crosslinking at high temperatures, further enhancing performance. Additional toughness and chemical resistance can be improved through vulcanization with a sulfur donor.

Product Applications
  • Versatile polymer latex can be used in adhesive, abrasive paper backing, saturant, and paper & textile coating applications.
  • The medium acrylonitrile content provides good chemical, grease, and oil resistance combined with good tear and abrasion resistance. Also, it exhibits good flexibility and impact resistance.
  • The functionality of this polymer contains both carboxylated and heat reactive elements for the best performance.
  • The carboxylated functionality can be crosslinked internally or with the substrate using metal complexes, amino and phenol formaldehyde resins, and epoxies.
  • The heat reactive functionality can self-crosslink at temperatures above 150°C, allowing the polymer to further enhance performance. Additional toughness, abrasion, and chemical resistance can be further enhanced though vulcanization using a sulfur donor.

Storage & Handling

Storage Condition
  • NYCHEM® latexes are aqueous dispersions of colloidal polymer particles. They are subject to freezing and to gelation. Frozen latex cannot be salvaged. Gelation may occur at temperatures below 60°F. Gelled latex should be placed in a heated room and warmed gradually. Gentle stirring after heating helps break the gel.
  • NYCHEM® 1572 should be stored in a dry place, in the sealed original containers, at temperatures between 16°C and 32°C (61°F and 90°F).
Shelf Life Information
  • Under these storage conditions the shelf life is 6 months from date of shipment. The product should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
