OMICURE® U 405 N

OMICURE® U 405 N is an aromatic substituted urea used as a latent ACCELERATOR for dicyandiamide-cured epoxy resins, shortening cure times and temperatures for shelf-stable one-part products. The micronized OMICURE® U-405M N is chlorine-free and safer than Monuron and Diuron. Use levels are ≤ 5 phr, with curing in about 1 hour at 100°C and under 4 minutes at ≥150°C. Shelf life improves with insoluble ingredients and OMICURE® U-405 N can be added with dicy in formulations.

  • OMICURE® U-405 N accelerator, an aromatic substituted urea, is intended for use as a latent accelerator for the dicyandiamide cure of epoxy resins. The addition of OMICURE® U-405 N t accelerator to these formulations produces shelf-stable, one-part products with shorter cure times and/or temperatures. OMICURE® U-405M N accelerator represents the micronized grade of OMICURE® U-405 N accelerator.
  • Of the substituted ureas, OMICURE® U-405 N accelerator is most similar in structure to Monuron and Diuron. However, OMICURE® U-405 N accelerator, does not contain any chlorine and is, therefore, safer to use than Monuron or Diuron. When substituting OMICURE® U-405 N accelerator for either of these products, the formulator should use approximately 30-50% less 94 to achieve similar degrees of acceleration. Suggested use levels of OMICURE® U-405 N accelerator are ≤ 5 phr. At 100°C cures can be obtained in about one hour and in less than four minutes at temperatures ≥ 150°C. Cure times are dependent on the composition of the formulated product and your particular end application.
  • Some of the factors which can effect shelf life are formulation ingredients and compounding parameters. Ingredients in which OMICURE® U-405 N accelerator is insoluble at processing and storage temperatures will enhance overall storage stability. OMICURE® U-405 N accelerator can be incorporated into your formulation concurrent with the dicy addition.

Storage Condition
  • OMICURE® U-405 N accelerators should be stored in a dry place, in the sealed original containers, at temperatures below 50°C (122°F).
  • Under these storage conditions, the product has a shelf life of 24 months (from date of manufacture). The products should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
