ARALDITE® DY 023 is cresyl glycidyl ether (CGE). Liquid epoxy resins based on bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin are sometimes too viscous for certain applications. The viscosity of these liquid resins can be reduced by adding solvents, plasticizers, or reactive diluents. However, when formulating thick coatings, the use of solvents is not recommended because they cannot be completely driven off. Plasticizers are often unsuitable for electrical applications or where heat resistance is required. Reactive diluents are free-flowing, low molecular weight compounds (130–210) that participate in the curing reaction and significantly reduce the viscosity of the epoxy resin system. Although reactive diluents can affect the final properties of the cured resin/hardener system, they represent the best choice for viscosity reduction. ARALDITE® DY 023 is less volatile and exhibits good resistance to water. It can be added to epoxy resins in quantities of 2–20% by weight. Additions exceeding 20% can cause considerable deterioration of the cured system's properties.

ARALDITE® DY A diluent is a colorless, clear aliphatic glycidyl ether based on 2-ethylhexanol. It is primarily used as an additive to reduce the viscosity of liquid epoxy resins. The relatively long alkyl chain structure of ARALDITE® DY-A, combined with the polar epoxy group, results in efficient viscosity reduction and reduced surface tension. Epoxy resins modified with ARALDITE® DY-A diluent exhibit good wetting and leveling properties at low diluent concentrations.

When formulating thick coatings, the incorporation of solvents is not recommended, since it is impossible to drive them off completely. Plasticizers cannot be tolerated in many electrical applications or where heat resistance properties are required. Reactive diluents are free-flowing compounds of low molecular weight (130-210) that take part in the curing reaction and considerably decrease the viscosity of an epoxy resin system. Although the addition of reactive diluents will always have some influence on the end properties of the cured resin/hardener system, they represent the best choice of viscosity reduction. Araldite DY K is less volatile and shows good resistance to water. Araldite DY K can be added to epoxy resins in quantities of 2-20% by weight. Additions of more than 20% cause considerable deterioration the properties of the cured system.

ARALDITE® DY T is a reactive diluent that can be used in combination with unmodified liquid epoxy resins such as Araldite® GY 6010, Araldite® GY 282, or Araldite® EPN 9850 to prepare low-viscosity epoxy systems. These systems are suitable for formulating solvent-free coatings, flooring, and mastics. The reactive diluent content in the resin system should not exceed 20%.

ARALDITE® MY 722 Resin is a very low-viscosity tetrafunctional epoxy resin (8,000 - 12,000 cPs at 77°F) with excellent storage stability and thermal/mechanical performance properties, making it particularly suitable for producing high-performance composite structures, adhesives, casting, tooling, and other high-performance systems. Thanks to its moderate viscosity at ambient temperature, ARALDITE® MY 722 Resin can be easily processed using a variety of manufacturing techniques, including prepregging, filament winding, reaction injection molding (RIM), and pultrusion.
