Application Information

ARADUR® 835 as an accelerator: Due to its high reactivity, Aradur 835 is most suitable as a co-hardener in combination with DICY and/or phenolic hardeners in order to formulate highly reactive powder coating systems. Standard Bis A or phenolic novolac modified Bis A epoxies are used as resin components, e.g., Araldite® GT 7072, GT 7013 and GT 7220. The mixture of resin, hardener and pigments/fillers is melt mixed in an extruder. These fast curing systems can be applied by conventional electrostatic spray and curing method. As a co-hardener, ARADUR® 835 can be used in powder coatings for pipes and rebars, showing excellent mechanical properties, good salt spray and cathodic disbonding performance.

ARADUR® 835 as a crosslinker for thermo-press powder systems: ARADUR® 835 must be dry blended with Araldite® GT 7072, GT 7013 or GT 7220 in the proper ratio, and the blend should be pulverized to less than 100 um for thermo-press applications. Each component may be separately pigmented by extrusion. Such clear or pigmented dry blends have a shelf life of more than 6 month if stored in a cool and dry place. The extrusion of the resin/hardener mixture may not be possible due to the high reactivity. The powder is applied by conventional electrostatic spray technique and will be pressed by a hot plate for 2 to 3 minutes at 130°C. An image transfer foil can be positioned between the coating and the hot plate for any desired patterns. When ARADUR® 835 is used in the thermo-press applications, the powder systems are most suitable as decorative coating on temperature sensitive substrates, such as wood, MDF-boards, and plastic substrates.

Safety & Health

First Aid

In case of contact:

  • Eyes: Promptly flush with large amounts of water.
  • Skin: Wash with mild soap and water.
  • Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Give oxygen if breathing is difficult
  • Ingestion: If conscious, give plenty of water. Call a physician.
Safety Precautions
  • Caution! Avoid dusty conditions.
  • Avoid contact with eyes.
  • Avoid breathing dust.
  • Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin.
  • When poured, resin can generate static electricity sparks which can ignite flammable vapors or dusts.
  • Use with good ventilation.
  • Hazardous decomposition products when disposed of in fire: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and other toxic gases and vapors.
  • Disposal: Regular procedures approved by local authorities.
