Technical Details & Test Data
- Hardeners and Mixing Ratios
The following types of curing agents are typically used for room temperature curing coatings. The epoxy resin and the curing agent are stored separately and mixed shortly before use. These hardeners include:
- 1-Formulated polyamines and cycloaliphatic amine hardeners. Used at levels of ~12 to 25 phr. Two component systems using these curing agents are characterized by fast dry times and short pot life. Examples are Aradur® 943 and Aradur® 837.
- 2-Formulated amidoamines hardeners. Used at levels of ~25 to 100 phr. High viscosity polyamidoamines are reduced with organic solvents to give better handling properties as solvent-containing, two-component systems. Low viscosity polyamidoamines are used without additional dilution in high solids formulations. Examples include the following products:
High Viscosity High Solids Aradur® 815-2 X-70 Aradur® 283 Aradur® 825-2 Aradur® 360 Aradur® 840-2 Aradur® 250 - 3-Phenalkamine hardeners. Used at levels of ~28 - 45 phr. The products offer fast cure speeds at temperatures as low as 5°C, excellent adhesion and water resistance, good chemical resistance and relatively long pot life. Examples include Aradur® 3440, Aradur® 3442 and Aradur® 3460.
