JEFFTREAT® MS-300

JEFFTREAT® MS-300 is a methyldiethanolamine (MDEA)-based gas treating solvent, formulated to meet very low (<10 ppmv) hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) off-gas specifications. It is a clear, water-white to light yellow, hygroscopic liquid with an ammoniacal odor, designed specifically for low-pressure Claus plant tail gas treating units that require low H₂S outlet gas concentrations.

Product Benefits
  • JEFFTREAT® MS-300 solvent offers the advantage of extremely high HS selectivity over carbon dioxide(CO), which results in lower operating costs, increased equipment capacity, and reduced capital costs for new equipment.
  • Proper application of JEFFTREAT® MS-300 solvent may allow shutdown of the incinerator for the off-gas, which could lead to substantial savings for the operator.

Storage & Handling

Storage and Handling Information
  • The handling and storage of JEFFTREAT® solvents present no unusual problems.
  • The properties and alkaline nature of JEFFTREAT® solvents should be considered when choosing materials of construction.
  • JEFFTREAT® solvents should not be stored in tanks made from zinc, galvanized steel, or copper and its alloys since the solvent will react with copper to form complex salts.
  • Also avoid the use of elastomers such as Buna N, VITON® elastomer, neoprene, and nitrile as these materials tend to swell when exposed to the amine.
  • KALREZ® 1050 LF elastomer performs satisfactorily in amine service as well as materials made from polypropylene and TEFLON® elastomer.
  • A carbon steel storage tank, constructed according to a recognized code, is generally satisfactory.
  • Carbon steel transfer lines, joined by welds or flanges, are suitable. Screw joints are subject to failure unless back-welded.
  • FLEXITALLIC® gaskets work well for flanged connections.
  • For pumps, a Durametallic Type RO-TT mechanical seal or equivalent is suitable.
Shelf Life Information

The product should retain its conformance to sales specifications for a period of at least two years after date of manufacture if the product is stored at less than 100°F in its undamaged, unopened, factory packaged container.
