NYCHEM® 1581

NYCHEM® 1581 is a carboxylated, high-nitrile acrylonitrile-butadiene latex offering excellent chemical and mechanical stability. It provides superior formulating capabilities, wetting properties, and reduced pH sensitivity, ideal for binder and coating applications. As a wet laminating resin or heat seal adhesive, it offers strong adhesion to rubber, metal, and textile substrates, enhancing water, oil, solvent resistance, and flexibility. With high acrylonitrile content, it excels in chemical, grease, and oil resistance, making it ideal for abrasive and durable papers. Its carboxylated functionality enables crosslinking, and vulcanization with sulfur donors further improves toughness and resistance.

Storage & Handling

Storage Condition
  • NYCHEM® 1581 are aqueous dispersions of colloidal polymer particles. They are subject to freezing and to gelation. Frozen latex cannot be salvaged. Gelation may occur at temperatures below 60 °F. Gelled latex should be placed in a heated room and warmed gradually. Gentle stirring after heating helps break the gel.
  • NYCHEM® 1581 Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Latex should be stored in a dry place, in the sealed original containers, at temperatures between +16°C and +32°C (+61°F and +90°F). Under these storage conditions, the product has a shelf life of 6 months (from date of manufacture). The products should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
