Applications & Uses

Application Information

Adhesive Application

  • The resin/hardener mixture can be applied manually or automatically to the pre-treated dry bonding surface.
  • The lap shear strength of the bond is usually greatest when the adhesive thickness is 0.05-0.10 mm.
  • Huntsman emphasizes that the proper design of the bond is also crucial to the reliability of the bond.
  • The bonded parts should be assembled as soon as possible after the adhesive is applied and clamped in place.

Technical Details & Test Data

Technical Information

Pretreatment :

  • The strength and durability of the bond depends on proper treatment of the bonding surface. At a minimum, the bonding surface should be cleaned with a good degreaser (such as acetone, alcohol or other special degreaser) to remove all oil, grease and dirt.
  • Mechanical abrasion or chemical etching ("pickling") of the degreased bonding surface can maximize the strength and durability of the bond. A secondary degreasing treatment should be performed after abrasion.

Equipment Maintenance :

  • All adhesive residues on tools should be cleaned with hot water and soap before they cure.
  • Removing cured adhesive residues can be very time-consuming and laborious.
  • If cleaning with solvents such as acetone, use caution and avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Storage & Handling

Storage Information

Araldite® 2015-1L should be stored in unopened containers at room temperature. The expiration date can be found on the label on the container.

Handling Precautions

Handling Precautions Caution :

  • Uncured material should not come into contact with food or food utensils.
  • Measures should also be taken to prevent uncured material from coming into contact with the skin, as some people with skin allergies may be affected.
  • Generally, impermeable rubber or plastic gloves should be worn; also wear protective glasses.
  • Wash skin thoroughly with soap and warm water at the end of each work.
  • Avoid using solvents. Use paper towels to clean the skin, not towels.
  • Maintain adequate ventilation in the workplace.
