Pretreatment
The strength and durability of the bond depends on proper preparation of the bonding surfaces. The bonding surfaces should be cleaned at least with a degreasing cleaner such as acetone or other suitable cleaning agent to remove all oil, stains and dust. Do not use low alcohol, gasoline or paint thinners. The strongest and most durable bonds can be obtained by mechanically grinding or chemically etching the cleaned surfaces. A second cleaning treatment should be performed after grinding.

Adhesive Application
The resin/hardener mixture is applied manually or automatically to the clean, dry pre-prepared bonding surfaces. Huntsman’s technical support group can help users select the appropriate application method and recommends several reputable companies that manufacture and service adhesive application equipment. Typically, a layer of adhesive 0.05 to 0.10 mm thick will provide the maximum lap shear strength of the bond. Huntsman emphasizes that proper adhesive joint design is also important to ensure the durability of the bond. Bonded parts should be assembled and clamped immediately after application of adhesive. Equipment Maintenance
All tools should be cleaned with hot water and soap before adhesive residue cures. Cured residue is difficult and time consuming to remove. If cleaning with solvents such as acetone, use appropriate precautions when handling. Also, avoid contact with skin and eyes.

- These products are generally harmless when used under the specified safety precautions. Uncured material should not come into contact with food or food utensils. Also take care to prevent uncured material from coming into contact with the skin, as some people with skin allergies may be affected. Generally wear impermeable rubber or plastic gloves; also wear protective glasses. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and warm water at the end of each work. Avoid the use of solvents. Use paper towels, not towels, to clean the skin. Provide adequate ventilation in the workplace.
