Pretreatment
Pretreatment The strength and durability of the bond is based on the proper preparation of the surfaces to be bonded. Ideally, the bonding surfaces should be cleaned with a suitable degreaser such as acetone, isopropyl alcohol or a dedicated degreaser to remove all oil, grease and dust. Do not use low-quality alcohols, gasoline or paint thinners. To obtain the strongest and most durable bonds, it is usually necessary to mechanically grind or chemically etch the degreased surface. The ground surface must be cleaned again with a degreaser.

Application method
The mixed resin and curing agent can be applied manually or mechanically to the prepared dry bonding surface. The adhesive layer thickness of 0.05 to 0.10 mm gives the maximum lap shear strength of the bonded parts. The bonded parts should be assembled and clamped immediately after gluing. Applying uniform pressure to the bonding surface ensures the best curing.
Mechanical application
Specialized equipment companies have developed metering, mixing and gluing equipment suitable for large drum adhesive application. We recommend that customers choose the appropriate equipment according to their needs.Equipment maintenance
The residual adhesive on the equipment tools must be thoroughly cleaned with hot water and soap before curing. Cleaning after curing will be a time-consuming and laborious operation. If acetone solvents are required for cleaning, safety precautions must be taken to avoid contact with skin and eyesTime required to reach minimum shear strength.

- Storage and Handling Information
- Araldite® AV 138M-1 and Curing Agent HV 998 must be stored in sealed containers at room temperature. The recommended storage conditions and expiration date are indicated on the product packaging.
- These products are generally harmless when used with the specified safety precautions. Uncured material should not come into contact with food or food utensils. Also, precautions should be taken to prevent uncured material from coming into contact with the skin, as some people with skin allergies may be affected. Generally, impermeable rubber or plastic gloves should be worn; also wear protective glasses. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and warm water at the end of each work. Avoid the use of solvents. Dry skin with disposable paper towels, not towels. Provide adequate ventilation in the workplace.
