ARALDITE® AV 138M-1 / HARDENER HV 998

ARALDITE® AV 138M-1 / HARDENER HV 998 is a high-strength, two-component, room-temperature curing paste adhesive. When fully cured, the adhesive exhibits excellent performance at high temperatures and good chemical resistance. It is suitable for bonding various metals, ceramics, glass, rubber, rigid plastics, and other materials. It is widely used in industrial applications where temperature resistance is required. Its low emission makes it suitable for use in the electronics, telecommunications, and aerospace fields.

Pretreatment

Pretreatment The strength and durability of the bond is based on the proper preparation of the surfaces to be bonded. Ideally, the bonding surfaces should be cleaned with a suitable degreaser such as acetone, isopropyl alcohol or a dedicated degreaser to remove all oil, grease and dust. Do not use low-quality alcohols, gasoline or paint thinners. To obtain the strongest and most durable bonds, it is usually necessary to mechanically grind or chemically etch the degreased surface. The ground surface must be cleaned again with a degreaser.

The resin and hardener must be stirred until thoroughly homogeneous.

Application method
The mixed resin and curing agent can be applied manually or mechanically to the prepared dry bonding surface. The adhesive layer thickness of 0.05 to 0.10 mm gives the maximum lap shear strength of the bonded parts. The bonded parts should be assembled and clamped immediately after gluing. Applying uniform pressure to the bonding surface ensures the best curing.
Mechanical application
Specialized equipment companies have developed metering, mixing and gluing equipment suitable for large drum adhesive application. We recommend that customers choose the appropriate equipment according to their needs.

Equipment maintenance
The residual adhesive on the equipment tools must be thoroughly cleaned with hot water and soap before curing. Cleaning after curing will be a time-consuming and laborious operation. If acetone solvents are required for cleaning, safety precautions must be taken to avoid contact with skin and eyes
