HuntsmanARALDITE® DY 023
  • Product Functions:Reactive Diluent, Viscosity Modifier
  • Chemical Name:2-[(2-Methylphenoxy)methyl]oxirane
  • Chemical Family:Phenols & Phenolics
  • Product End Uses:Flooring Adhesives
  • CAS Number:2210-79-9
  • Material Compatibility:Epoxy (EP) Polymers
  • Physical Form:Liquid

ARALDITE® DY 023 is cresyl glycidyl ether (CGE). Liquid epoxy resins based on bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin are sometimes too viscous for certain applications. The viscosity of these liquid resins can be reduced by adding solvents, plasticizers, or reactive diluents. However, when formulating thick coatings, the use of solvents is not recommended because they cannot be completely driven off. Plasticizers are often unsuitable for electrical applications or where heat resistance is required. Reactive diluents are free-flowing, low molecular weight compounds (130–210) that participate in the curing reaction and significantly reduce the viscosity of the epoxy resin system. Although reactive diluents can affect the final properties of the cured resin/hardener system, they represent the best choice for viscosity reduction. ARALDITE® DY 023 is less volatile and exhibits good resistance to water. It can be added to epoxy resins in quantities of 2–20% by weight. Additions exceeding 20% can cause considerable deterioration of the cured system's properties.

HuntsmanARALDITE® DY 3601
  • Chemical Family:Epoxy & Epoxy Derivatives
  • Product End Uses:Floor Coatings, Primers, Solventless & High Solids Coating
  • Labeling Claims:Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) Chemicals-free, Volatile Organic Compound (VOC)-free
  • Product Features:High Flexibility, High Impact Resistance, Low Viscosity

ARALDITE® DY 3601 is a low viscosity epoxy resin based on a polypropylene glycol, designed to lower the viscosity and increase the flexibility and impact resistance of coatings, primers, floor toppings. Its addition to a system may also result in reduced chemical resistance and reactivity. It is usually added in amounts ranging from 5% to 30% on the binder (epoxy resin + hardener). ARALDITE® DY 3601 is 100% reactive. Unlike non-reactive plasticizers such as dibutyl phthalate, it is incorporated chemically into the epoxy system and will not diffuse from paint films.

HuntsmanARALDITE® DY K
  • Product Functions:Reactive Diluent, Viscosity Modifier
  • Chemical Name:2-[(2-Methylphenoxy)methyl]oxirane
  • Product End Uses:Floor Coatings, Potting Compound
  • CAS Number:2210-79-9
  • Material Compatibility:Epoxy (EP) Polymers
  • Labeling Claims:Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) Chemicals-free, Volatile Organic Compound (VOC)-free
  • Physical Form:Liquid

ARALDITE® DY K is a cresyl glycidyl ether (CGE). Liquid epoxy resins, based on bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin, are sometimes too viscous for use in certain applications. The viscosity of liquid resins can be reduced by the addition of solvents, plasticizers or reactive diluents. When formulating thick coatings, the incorporation of solvents is not recommended, since it is impossible to drive them off completely. Plasticizers cannot be tolerated in many electrical applications or where heat resistance properties are required. Reactive diluents are free-flowing compounds of low molecular weight (130-210) that take part in the curing reaction and considerably decrease the viscosity of an epoxy resin system. Although the addition of reactive diluents will always have some influence on the end properties of the cured resin/hardener system, they represent the best choice of viscosity reduction. Araldite DY K is less volatile and shows good resistance to water. Araldite DY K can be added to epoxy resins in quantities of 2-20% by weight. Additions of more than 20% cause considerable deterioration the properties of the cured system.

EPALLOY® 5000 banner

HuntsmanEPALLOY® 5000
  • Chemical Family:Epoxy & Epoxy Derivatives
  • Chemical Name:Hydrogenated bisphenol-A epoxy resin
  • Product Functions:Binder, Resin, Resins, Binders & Matrix Materials
  • Product End Uses:3D Printing Applications, Civil Engineering Applications, Concrete Coating, Rail Cars, Tanks, Top Coat, UV Coating
  • CAS Number:30583-72-3
  • Processing & Application Methods:3D Printing, Stereolithography
  • Labeling Claims:Isocyanates-free, Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) Chemicals-free, Volatile Organic Compound (VOC)-free

EPALLOY® 5000 resin is the diepoxide of the hydrogenated bisphenol A. Due to its saturated ring structure, this resin will find utility in applications requiring resistance to ultraviolet light exposure. Formulations based on standard DGEBA resins usually do not perform well in this environment. Curing agent selection should be done with great care to achieve optimum weathering resistance with EPALLOY® 5000 resin. Products with improved chalking resistance and gloss retention can be formulated. EPALLOY® 5000 resin exhibits a significantly lower viscosity than DGEBA. Higher filler loadings can, therefore, be achieved, resulting in cost reduction and reduced shrinkage. The adhesion and chemical resistance characteristics of EPALLOY® 5000 resin formulations are expected to be like those of standard DGEBA systems.
